I bought the Powerlite 1761W for power point presentations to clients and referral sources in conference rooms and class rooms. It is amazingly light and easy to carry, set up and pack up. It produces a very crisp, HD image. My team is totally satisfied and even the least techy members use it with confidence. We do not mess with the focus adjustments, it adjusts perfectly on its own. Three surprises. One, the carry bag is not sturdy looking and is not quite big enough to hold the projector, cables and accessories. I am surprised Epson put its logo on a bag that is so poorly matched to the product. Two, although touted as wireless, it has no wireless connection to my laptop (I was thinking blue tooth), only a wireless connection to my office LAN, not what I expected from reading the product description. Three, although it came with USB and VGA cables my laptop has no VGA port and the USB cable produced a "No signal" message, so I called tech support. I learned the USB cable is not for a laptop connection and I should get a HDMI cable (which did not come with the projector). Tech support told me to just disregard all of the written instructions that come with the projector and let the product run itself. They were right. Tech support was very accessible and responsive and supportive, and the HDMI cable totally worked and made me very happy with the projector.

A nice look, lots of bells and whistles, but when I read Plug n' Play I thought it would be just that. Purchased so we could show a video to a large group, but there is no audio out . . . which means that while I can use an HDMI cable to plug in from our blue ray player, there is no way to hook up speakers. I must say I am stunned. So as far as I am concerned, the player is worthless to us, and after 30 days, and no use, the vendor will not let me return nor exchange. I believe your literature should be more acutate. Plug n' Play it is not, unless you want 50 people to stand within an arms length of the unit. It's speaker is very tiny and diffucult to hear even at it's highest volumn setting. I am very disappointed.

Would get 5 stars, but...

By Matt

Comments about Epson PowerLite 1761W:

A: This thing needs to be bluetooth, or something. If I'm doing a remote presentation, I can't always ask the password to the location's router. I can always wire it up, but that sucks. B: The audio situation is a disgrace. Why can I not just plug a heap set of computer speakers/etc into it? C. In the middle of a presentation the other day, my remote decided to not work anymore, but only for the page-forward/back function, which is the only function I need it to perform. Also, the forward/back button on the remote is on the worst possible spot. In general, the remote sucks really, really bad. I am none too pleased with it. Other than those things, it's great. Powerful enough, great size for travel. I really ike it. If they update it with my gripes fixed, I'll definitely buy one; especially if they can make it even more compact.

PowerLite 1761W - An Excellent Choice

By OldAcez

from Midlothian, TX

Comments about Epson PowerLite 1761W:

I use my new Epson PowerLite 1761W to make presentations from my MacBook to incarcerated youth. The presentations range from short skits in mpeg format, to Power Points of various kinds. The quick & easy wireless set up is wonderful! Plus the modern technology that automatically adjusts the shape of the wall projection keeps viewing from distortion! I highly recommend this projector to anyone needing a compact, wireless HD projector!

Good controls, good projection, adapts to any angle when connected to a laptop. But ... I can't use it with Windows RT in my wife's tablet, this is what brought me to this page.

Great product so far

By Yogo

from Salt Lake City, UT

Comments about Epson PowerLite 1761W:

Bright, sharp image though does require dimmed ambient light. An excellent balance of portability with image quality and the convenience features I need such as zoom, auto keystone correction, remote control, cable versatility, wireless network connectivity, at a price point that seems reasonable for all this technology.

Great portable projector

By Ron

from MD

Comments about Epson PowerLite 1761W:

This is a great projector for the price. 1.5 pounds lighter than most of the competition and only half as high. The wireless connection was easy to setup and works great. Projected bulb life is a little low but then so is the replacement bulb price.

Epson 1761w projector

By Local Boy

from Hawaii

Comments about Epson PowerLite 1761W:

I just purchased this projector and could Not connect to wifi. When I contacted Epson, they referred me to their website to download the driver. Thats a problem as I followed their brief instructions. After downloading the driver, the projector appears to be working fine. However, after turning off the projector, the motor (not lamp) seems to get burning HOT.

Haven't be able to connected it wirelessly, set up is a little bit complicated it but will call tech support, speaker not to loud but this is not important to us because we have a sorround system. The wireless in the projector will connect to the IPad via an app. Or you can buy an Apple TV and plug that into the HDMI port.

You can connect the projector from vga, hdmi or wifi. I have not personally tried wifi however generally it would require a network. Bluetooth would not require this but I am not sure if this has Bluetooth.

      A:

Advancing slides only works when you are driving your presention with the USB thumb drive. If you are using your computer you will need a presenters remote. That remote has a USB that goes in your computer and the remote control advances your slides for you. Years ago, remote controls for Projectors would advance your presentations but as Manufactures have been driving prices down that is no longer a feature with the remote control for Projectors. We sell the Presenters Remotes.

Product key features include message broadcasting with wireless LAN card — broadcasts customized images and alerts over the network for announcements or instructions. Wireless LAN card should allow you to access instructions.
