  • Low profile
  • Secure

Cons

  • Difficult To Lock Tight

Best Uses

Comments about Sanus Systems VMPR1 Universal Projector Mount, Black:

Assembly and installation of the mount was straight forward, but it was impossible to tighten all the adjustment screws when I wanted to 'lock in' the position. I ended up removing the mount so I could exert significant force on the various adjustment screws through their full threading. It was almost like powder coating was trapped in the threads and prevented the screw from being fully secured. After re-installation of the mount I had to settle for 'mostly tight' vs. 'rock solid'. Final adjustment therefore involved grabbing the physical projector itself and manually manipulating it in all directions until it was positioned. Further tightening the adjustment screws to lock it in was impossible.

As for the rest, the design can handle a wide variety of projectors and functions well in low-profile applications.

I used this in my home theater with a Mitsubishi hc4000 it was easy to install and had lots of adjustment to get a good square picture. The only down side was you need a joist very close to where you need your projector. (No lens shift on Mitsubishi ).

Comments about Sanus Systems VMPR1 Universal Projector Mount, Black:

I purchased this mount to hang a Panasonic PT-AE7000u in my theater room and replace an existing Runco unit and mount. It couldn't have been easier to attach to the projector and then hang from the ceiling. It's a solid mount and adapts well to the rather odd bolt spacing of the Panasonic projector. The instruction sheet tries to avoid descriptive text in an effort to work in multiple locales, but the result is that it's of limited usefullness. I like to reads manuals, but ultimately I just tinkered with the Sanus until it was attached to the projector and then hung from the ceiling. Luckily, it turned out to be a pretty straightforward process. Bottom line: it's a great mount and one that I would recommend.

This was very easy to install, and a snap to adjust with all the degrees of movement. I was able to install the mount a few inches off-center and shift the projector over to the middle. So far it's holding up very well. Now, if only my ceiling weren't quite so flexible so activity upstairs wouldn't transfer quite so much...

An ordinary pipe threaded at both ends from the hardware store works just fine. I have one installation with a 3 ft long pipe. I don't think there is a limit, but the longer the pipe, the more shaky it's going to be.

Without the drop pipe the projector will be attached 5 inches below the ceiling. If you do use the drop pipe that will increase the distance 7 inches (12 inches total).

This mount does work with the Epson 8350. All the necessary hardware is included. Remember this is a universal mount so there is some adjustment needed. With a phillips head screw driver and a small adjustable wrench, it is made to fit quite easily.

I do not remember if the screws to attach to my projector came with the mount or if they came with my projector. I didn't have to purchase any additional screws to mount my projector.
As far as it working with the Epson, I would think it would. The four arms that attach to the projector adjust in so many different ways that I find it hard to believe that it wouldn't work. I have a Panasonic PT AE4000U and the mount holes are very oddly placed. But each mount arm moves in and out, left and right, and the metal piece that attaches to the projector swivels. So you should be able to line it up with your projectors configuration.
