"Shown is our finished basement with the home theater system I always wanted to create.
The projector is a Sony VPL-AW15 projector purchased from Projector People. I have been very pleased with the performance of this projector. It is extremely quiet and produces an excellent high definition picture. You can't beat it for the price.
The screen was custom built by myself. Its aspect ratio is 16:9 with a diagonal measurement of 96 inches. The screen material is a professional white matte with a screen gain of 1.3. The frame was constructed from poplar with an adhesive backed black velvet tape applied on the exposed surfaces. The velvet absorbs all light spillover from the projected image, leaving the picture with sharp crisp edges.
The audio equipment consists of a Sony 100 watt per channel "stereo" receiver (very low, 0.09% THD) coupled with my older Epicure 20 speakers. Can't beat the audio quality from these older speakers.
Remaining equipment consists of a Charter Cable "Hi-Def" set top box running a HDMI cable directly to the projector.
Also have a Phillips up-scaling DVD player with HDMI output. Will probably purchase a Sony "Blue Ray" player later this year as more movies become available and prices continue to fall."
