Comments about Casio XJ-M255:
This is my 2nd projector that I have used in my theater. My primary uses are for my home theater PC and for gaming. This projector has an amazing 3000 lumens, and in a light controlled theater this is way more than enough, to the point where I run it in ECO mode most of the time.
Startup and install: Quick simple and easy to setup, boot time is fast, and since it is Laser/LED the light source is up and ready as soon as you are.
Mounting / Placement: This is really the only gripe that I have, but even then, knowing what you are getting into before purchase helps. This is meant as a business projector, so it works best sitting on a table, or mounted CLOSE to a screen up-side-down. It takes a bit of work to get it set up just right in a theater setting.
Though when I have used it for work, it has been extremly easy to pop it out of the case (that it came with) get it set up on a table, and be presenting in just a few minutes. Even the rest of the IT department gawks at how nice this PJ is.
I/O: There are plenty of inputs on this unit, more than enough for most any use. HDMI, VGA, RCA, USB (It includes a wireless dongle), and even a network port which really opens up some neat features if you want them (But are by no means required). If you are using a laptop, or going from a receiver, you will be able to connect to this just fine.
Resolution: It is not 1080P native, but at this price point, there is not a 1080P Laser/LED projector that is. I have connected multiple desktop and laptop computers to this projector and they have never had an issue with the display. Windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1 etc. all work fine.
Winkey+P works beautifully.
As far as movies, games etc. I run everything through my Onkyo TX-SR 805 or TX-NR 608 and all of my input devices are native 1080P and the projector has never ever griped about odd resolutions.
Color / Refresh Rate: I am by no means a videophile, though I have a 120" screen that I use this on and I could not be happier. Sure I might not be getting the blackest of the black, or extreme refrence quality colors, but to 95% of vieweres they wont' tell the difference anyway.
If compared to a really nice 24" IPS monitor, I can see that there is a little bit of blue saturation as that is the native color of the light source, but IMO for it's intended use: Business presentations, it makes things like Windows Explorer, and PP presentations really "Pop".
Gaming / Movies: I have played over 4000 hours of games on this projector and have never had an issue with refresh rate, stutter, or screen door effect. Colors are true, and I can play things like Gran Turismo and not notice that I'm playing on a projector. Darker games with lots of gamma look amazing, as the 3000 Lumens can really make a bright scene or even part of a scene really just pop out at you. Netflix, DVD's, and Blu-Ray also all look equally amazing and will look excellent on this projector.
Bulb Life: This one is the biggest kicker for me. My first projector burned through 3 bulbs in the course of a year and a half. I am 6000 hours into the bulb life of this projector (It gets used daily for several hours a day) and the light source is still just as bright as day 1. I will be eventually buying a new projector before I ever have to worry about replacing a bulb in this thing.
The added cost savings that brings is immesurable.
Overall: I love this projector, and I can't wait until the next generation comes out. I won't have to replace this PJ, I'll simply just get the next version when they update the resolution.
Excellent, and worth every penny.
I've owned this PJ for over a year and a half now, and I wanted to come back and write a good review after I've put it through it's paces. So far it's held up really well and it looks like it still has years of service left.
