BenQ LW61ST with Laser Light Engine Technology

The BenQ LW61ST features the cutting-edge BlueCore laser light engine for sharp images and a lower total cost of ownership. This short throw projector can be placed close to the screen or wall, freeing up space in your classroom and allowing you to present without concerns of shadows or light shining in the presenter’s face.

Never change a projector lamp again. The BlueCore laser light source lasts more than 20,000 hours. The projector also incorporates the BlueCore-enhanced SmartEco™ technology which reduces light source power consumption by up to 90% for a significantly lowered total cost of projector maintenance and ownership. Free of mercury, the BenQ LW61ST is a safer, smarter and more environmentally friendly choice for your school.

See what the BenQ LW61ST laser technology looks like

80,000:1 High Contrast Performance for Ultra Sharp Graphics and Text

Blurry images are distracting to students and can cause eye fatigue. The BlueCore laser light engine can dim the light source power by up to 90% and still achieve a contrast ratio as high as 80,000:1. These ultra-sharp images and text help students focus on their learning.

Instant On/Off Projection Readiness for Classroom Instruction

It only takes a few seconds for the BenQ LW61ST to reach full brightness thanks to its BlueCore technology. In addition, it doesn’t require additional time to cool down. That leaves teachers with more time to teach without having to wait around between classes.

High Color Ratio for Superb Images

The higher the color ratio, the brighter the image. The LW61ST features an 8-segment phosphor wheel to boost the color ratio from 33.7% to 55.7%. Bring images to life with fantastic colors and contrasts.

Adjustable Brightness

Users can adjust the brightness level of the LW61ST manually to fit the lighting conditions and save power. This is something you can't do with a traditional projector. In the long run, you're able to save power and prolong the lamp life.

360° Degree Tilt Projection

Thanks to the laser characteristics of the BlueCore light engine and the heat sink design, users have the flexibility to set up the LW61ST tilted 360° degrees in either direction around the vertical! This gives teachers the flexibility to place the projector any way they want and optimize limited space.

Eco Blank Mode

The Eco Blank Mode allows teachers to blank the projection screen when the projector is not in use. Blanking the projection screen also allows teachers to direct their students’ focus back on them. Press the “Eco Blank Mode” button on the keypad or the “Blank” button on the remote control to activate this feature and the projector dims the lamp power automatically, lowering the total light source power consumption by up to 90%.

Other Great Features to Engage Your Class

iPad/iPhone Display Connectivity

More schools are recognizing the benefits of teaching with Apple iPads. Teachers say this new technology helps them engage their students in class. The iPad’s education applications open the gate to a world of knowledge through e-books, websites, newspapers, magazines, movies, music and games – offering students a more captivating learning experience in every subject. The LW61ST comes with iPad and/or iPhone wireless display support to expand onscreen content to over 80 inches and empower teachers to teach freely in class.

20W Speaker Power and Microphone Input Support

The LW61ST comes with enhanced audio support for your classroom. Two 10W speakers are sealed and secured within each side of the projector. The microphone input connects the projector to a conventional microphone or microphone headset for increased ease of teaching and learning.

      A:

I like the Optoma TH1060P or TH1020 for you. Because it's lighter on the weight to travel for the different applications but will still look nice in your Home Theater.

The BenQ LW61ST is specifically designed for classroom use and comes in just under $2000. One neat feature is it can be placed close to the wall, which frees up space for your presentation.

Will this projector work well for showing videos and movies? The description and video suggest it is meant for presentations - but can it display full HD video? Thanks

      A:

You can play DVD's in 720P resolution, like high def cable TV. You will not be able to play bluray movies. To do that you would need a 1080P Resolution.
