Casio's Slim Series incorporates a CASIO developed and patent pending Hybrid Light Source which combines Laser and LED technology for amazing high brightness and can last up to 20,000 hours. The Slim is an earth-friendly, low maintenance,  5 pound projector with features such as a 2X Power Zoom Lens making it a great portable projector. The Slim Projector eliminates the need for a short life mercury lamp (typically 3000 hours) and is economical to operate.

HYBRID LIGHT ENGINE

By combining a laser, a fluorescent element and an LED Casio has created an original mercury-free hybrid light source* capable of generating high brightness. Casio has achieved high brightness output of green light, which until now, has been considered difficult with conventional semiconductor light sources, by efficiently converting blue laser light into green light using a fluorescent element.

*The Slim Hybrid Light Source can only be replaced by the Casio Factory Service Center. Disassembly of the projector and/or use of its technology or components for other purposes is potentially dangerous and strictly prohibited.

MERCURY FREE LIGHT SOURCE

Provides 10X longer light source life than Casio mercury lamp while being more economical based on lamp replacement. The Slim projector features quick startup and shutdown. The projector reaches its maximum brightness in a minimum of 8 seconds and requires no cooling down period - an advantage for keeping presentations focused and smooth.

SUPERIOR COLOR, HIGH BRIGHTNESS

The Slim projector delivers a 50 percent increase in color spectrum for high impact presentations due to improvements in LED and laser technology. Superior color reproduction enhances color purity allowing visual effects to appear brighter and offering powerful images that conventional projectors cannot match.

COST EFFECTIVE

Compared with conventional high-brightness projectors employing mercury lamps, Slim technology cuts costs as well as the time and effort involved in lamp exchange while maintain clear, high-quality images over an extended period. The lamp free design is backed by a comprehensive 3 year warranty including the light source; users can expect reliable worry free operation from the Slim projectors.

WXGA

The native WXGA (1280 X 800) resolution of the Slim projector allows for optimal viewing of content created and formatted for today’s widescreen displays. Whether it is viewing a spreadsheet or two applications side by side, the WXGA Slim projector provides more useable screen area and displays more information on the same screen. Widescreen display formats have become the standard and now your projector can match the widescreen display of Notebook PC’s and HD Video sources.

2X OPTICAL ZOOM

Whether you are in a small office or a large boardroom the 2X power zoom lens gives you the flexibility to easily position the projector.

AUTOMATIC BRIGHTNESS ADJUSTMENT

The Automatic Brightness Adjustment, which adjusts lumen output based on the level of ambient light in the room, saves power, which saves money (and saves you from eye strain as well.)

HDMI

A built-in HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) input provides a direct digital input and allows connectivity with many Widescreen Notebooks now shipping with HDMI outputs. Compatible with HD Video formats, HD Video sources including Blu-Ray players, cable converter boxes and gaming systems can be connected to the Slim projector.

      Comments about Casio XJ-A251:

I replaced my television with this projector, and love it. The colors are not as accurate as my television, but in every other category it is a huge improvement. I store it in it's case and the set-up time for each use is very reasonable -- 60 seconds and I'm ready to watch movies. Better still, when I'm not watching movies there is no large black television in my living room!

In short, I traded a bit of image quality for a much larger screen size - and one that I can easily hide away when not in use. Fantastic.

LED is the way to go. No lamp replacements and incredible endurance.

            Very portable

            Impressive quality.

Everybody asks me about the projector and it is impressive the impact it causes on audiences.

The only think I would like to have are better or more powerful integrated audio speakers so when I connect via HDMI the audio can be better for video conferences and web demos. But it should not sacrifice overall dimensions

Since this does not use a standard bulb, if it burns out then how can the light source be replaced? Can it and how expensive is it?

              Thanks

This projector uses a LED light source and should last about 20,000 hours. You will be getting a newer projector before this burns out!

              • A:

This Casio projector does not use a standard light source in any way. The light source is a hybrid laser and LED light source and can not be replaced, but the life expectancy is 20,000 hours. In other words, you could keep it running all day, every day, for about two years and three months before the light source is expected to stop working properly.

No, the XJA256 is USB capable. It will play jpeg and AVI files off an USB but not full powerpoint files unless you convert them to a format the Casio projector will play. The XJA256 comes with the converter software for Windows.
