Because of the small size and portability with projectors I thought it might be cool to show people how you can do an inexpensive outdoor theater.

The screen is a 9-foot by 12-foot canvas painters drop cloth. The poles are painted PVC pipe with a T-fitting at the top. I added grommets to the drop cloth and pulled it up with rope. I use 25 foot Comprehensive S-video cable to the AV system in the house. The deck planters have speakers in them ( I just run a stereo feed, no 5.1 surround sound) and it all takes about 20 minutes to set up.

We watch movies, sports, and even used a play station on a 12-foot wide screen! You can't beat the outdoor fireplace in the brutal Florida winters, sub 50 degrees. Everything works great at night and the projector is an older Proxima that is about 1200 lumens and XGA resolution. This is a shot from the new Incredibles DVD.
