Very bright, excellent for ambient lighted environment

Comments about Epson Home Cinema 2150 3D:

Coming from an old 2003 Panasonic AE300:
This thing is BRIGHT! Bought it with ambient lighting in mind

*Using in totally light controlled room with screen
Running in ECO mode, feels almost too bright - could be simply needs to get used to it.
Will need to dig into calibration to dig out better black details

*Using outside to blow up a 14" wide image at night on white wall - excellent out of the box!

*In a fully lit living room - excellent out of the box!

Totally satisifed since I bought it with ambient lighting in mind.
It is noisier than I expected, noticable, but not disturbingly so.
For a 100% dedicated HT, I'd go with a 6x DLP BenQ or step up to LCoS Sony or JVC.

+Great $49 spare bulb price
+Very bright, even in ECO mode
+Vertical lens shift
-Noisier than expected (Not disturbing, but noticable)
-Remote control not backlit
-Too bright for HT room?
-Would've appreciated Iris level. For now it's only Off/Normal/Fast

Comments about Epson Home Cinema 2150 3D:

This projector is so clear when the lights go off. I have not left my den since plugging this sucker in. I am drawn to my old shows because of the clarity and now football games are amazing to watch. I don't have to go down to the local sports bar now to see games on a big screen. Awesome - you made my first projector purchase worthwhile. Thank you Projector People.

Comments about Epson Home Cinema 2150 3D:

Purchased the Epson 2150 for my entertainment room. Sarah provided me with advice on which projector was right for me and directed me through the entire process. The projector is used to watch movies and football games primarily. It exceeds my expectations as far as picture quality and ease of set up. If I had to mention a con it would be the fan is a little louder than the other projectors I've had previously. All in alla great purchase and a great experience.

Very good projector for home theater.

Comments about Epson Home Cinema 2150 3D:

This projector seems brighter than the rated lumens and color is almost oversaturated for graphics. Viewing in ECO mode is perfect for most applications. I am projecting wirelessly from a MS Surface Pro 3 with no image stutter or delay in either video or high res stills and no loss of quality. The wireless feature allows for moving around the room with my device during a talk without encumbrance. Distance from Surface to the Epson 2150 was about 25', no issues. Projected into a Grey Wolf (92" Wide) screen and a 9' (108") white paper backdrop with equal image clarity and quality. Invested in this for my business, but have watched a few movies and love it! May need to get a second one for my media room to replace my old projector. Quiet running fan stops immediately after shut down. Has a versatile zoom range allowing you to project (horizontal measurement) from 68" to 109" at 13', without refocusing.

Limited connectivity. I know that I am not the only "Old School" (RCA, S-Video in-out) out there, so it would be nice to have other input options for older equipment. The internal speaker, as in most projectors, is not meant to give a sound experience equal to the viewing experience. I connected my streaming device directly to the projector and ran an audio cable from the projectors "audio out" to my surround system for full theater sound.

Can this projector be mounted from the ceiling? Does it come with built-in threaded holes for mounting?

    • A:

Yes, it can be mounted on the ceiling. You need to go to settings and select ceiling mount projection. Yes, this device has three threaded mounting holes. I've used universal projector ceiling mounting kit.

Yes, and yes.  I have it mounted to the ceiling.

Yes, there are three threaded holes. A inexpensive universal ceiling mount will likely work fine. Ymmv

    • A:

Yes, the manual (downloadable from Epson) shows three mounting holes on the base of the projector for ceiling mounting and indeed they are there on the bottom of the projector.

Yes, I have found most universal mounts to work with the projector. Epson makes a universal mount that cost about $129. You can choose from any though.
